Not sure what Hamhuis brings that would slot him ahead of PK. I mean, he's steady enough, but there are already enough steady guys on the back line. If for nothing other than the PP, I would think PK would be in there. Then again, maybe each gets one of the first two games, and the order matters not.

I don't like the fact that the best player in the world (Crosby) gets saddled with arguably the two worst players on the team...

they will test both today and tomorrow.

It's pp specialist vs. PK specialist, for now.

if a player in their top six isn't up to par through prelims, this changes obviously.

a) the idea that Carter is one of the "worst" players on the team is not only laughable, it's purely stupid. He's a pure sniper, and has a tremendous international resume.

b) If Kunitz can't hang, he won't be there in the end. But there's zero reason to think he can't hang, considering he lights it up with Crosby.

People have short memories, but Crosby had no chemistry with Nash. Didn't have it with Toews either in Vancouver. And he ended up asking to play with Staal and Iginla, who were hardly Canada's best players in 2010.

Iginla played great when all was said and done, so did Staal, and Crosby scored the biggest goal of the tournament.

In 2010, Pronger and Niedermayer's play was atrocious, and Doughty who was playing great vaulted up the lineup.

In the gold medal game, Pronger and Neidermayer stepped up huge. But anyone can falter.

Throw the paper roster out... anything can happen from this point forward.

We all know why Kunitz is here and Carter has been scoring goals all season long.

Nash is doing nothing for me, but could produce considering this line-up.

a) ok, so Carter is better than Getzlaf, Perry, Tavares, Toews, Benn, Bergeron...? HE IS one of the worst...not saying he's no good...but he, along with Kunitz and Nash are probably the 3 worst players on the team...

Also, most of those guys have tremendous int'l resume...'cos they are all pretty darn good players. Doesn't change my point...there are better players on the team.

b) to that point, you are right...Kunitz and Crosby play well together...but almost anybody would. Maybe there's not enough time to test that out, so I'll concede that this is probably wise (and the only reason Kunitz made the team)

No...he might be right on the Kunitz point, but I'm not conceding the Carter one...

I think Tavares, or Benn, or St-Louis would look better...some of the other guys too, but I see the logic behind some of the other players staying together...
